Trump Threatens Military Action Against Nigeria Over Killings of Christians

United States President Donald Trump has issued a stern warning to the Nigerian government, threatening to take military action if the reported killing of Christians in the country continues.
In a fiery post on his Truth Social account on Saturday, Trump said he had directed the U.S. Department of War to begin preparations for what he described as a possible “guns-a-blazing” operation against terrorist groups in Nigeria.
> “If the Nigerian government cannot protect its Christian citizens, the United States will act. I have asked our War Department to prepare for action to wipe out Islamic terrorists killing innocent people,” Trump declared.
He also announced plans to suspend all U.S. aid and assistance to Nigeria, accusing the West African nation’s leadership of “turning a blind eye” to religiously motivated violence.
Trump’s statement has sparked global debate, with analysts warning that any military intervention could strain diplomatic relations between Washington and Abuja.
The Nigerian government has not yet issued an official response to the U.S. president’s remarks, but senior officials are said to be consulting on how to address the situation amid growing international attention.
The warning comes amid renewed reports of attacks in parts of northern Nigeria, where armed groups have targeted rural communities, including churches.
Observers say Trump’s comments could further escalate tensions, even as human rights groups continue to call for stronger international engagement to end violence against civilians in Nigeria.
