The police in the Federal Capital Territory on Tuesday arraigned two men before a Wuse Magistrates’ Court over alleged conspiracy and disturbance of public peace.
The defendants, Ibrahim Abdullahi and David Oina, of no fixed addresses, were charged with criminal conspiracy, disobedience to lawful order and disturbance of public peace.
The Prosecuting Counsel, Mr S.O. Osho, told the court that the defendants, on Aug. 1, conspired together and gathered at Kagina area, on Kubwa expressway to cause breach of national peace.
Osho said that a team of policemen arrested the defendants with stones, with the intent to prevent innocent citizens from going about their lawful businesses.
According to him, the offences contravene the provisions of Sections 97, 152 and 114 of the Penal Code.
The defendants, however, pleaded not guilty to the offences preferred against them.
The Judge, Amiru Sanusi, admitted the defendants to bail in the sum of N50,000 each, with two sureties each in like sum.
Sanusi advised the defendants to be of good conduct and adjourned the case till Sept. 17 for hearing.
