WAR REIGNS IN WARRI: Explosive Allegations Erupt Over Alleged Voter-Importation Plot Rocking Delta State

By Paul Ebi

Warri was thrown into turmoil on Wednesday as shocking allegations emerged claiming that groups of non-indigenous residents were being strategically mobilized into Ugbuwangwe, Ubeji, Pessu and Ekurede-Itsekiri for the ongoing Continuous Voters Registration (CVR) exercise.

According to the accusers, the alleged operation involves importing new residents from outside Warri, reportedly to register under the Itsekiri identity—a move they say is aimed at tilting political demographics ahead of future elections.

The claims, which spread rapidly across local networks and social media, specifically accuse powerful interests within Warri of orchestrating the movement, allegedly “in collaboration with compromised officials handling the voter registration process.”

A Brewing Political Volcano

The allegations have ignited fierce outrage, with concerned groups calling on the Delta State Government, INEC, and multiple security agencies to launch an immediate investigation into what they describe as an attempted political hijack of Warri Federal Constituency.

Residents are demanding answers, insisting that the alleged operation — if true — represents a dangerous escalation in Delta’s already tense political climate.

Fingers Pointed, Names Dropped

In a dramatic twist, the accusers mentioned top traditional and political figures, claiming that the alleged voter-importation scheme is being backed by “influential individuals desperate to seize political control.”

These explosive claims have sparked heated conversations from Warri to Asaba and Abuja, with citizens calling for transparency, accountability, and a full-scale probe into activities around the CVR centres.

INEC, Government, Security Agencies Under Pressure

Public pressure is mounting on:

Delta State Government

INEC

Nigerian Police Force

Nigerian Navy

Federal lawmakers and political leaders

…to immediately verify the allegations, audit the registration centres, and restore calm in the increasingly volatile environment.

Warri on High Alert

As tension rises, civic groups and residents are warning that mishandling the situation could plunge Warri into a major political crisis, especially as the 2027 election cycle inches closer.

For now, the city waits — anxiously — as calls for investigation echo across Delta State.
