Monkey bridge takes centre stage as modern Concrete bridge is abandoned -The Yenagoa city Experience

Bayelsa state is one of the oil rich states in the Niger-Delta of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. in terms of the numbers of Local Government Area, Bayelsa state happens to be one of the smallest, though small but contributing massively to the national revenue of Nigeria. The monthly allocation accruing to the state is not too small either.

Small! as the state been described, development and road construction is supposed to be rapid, especially in the state Capital, the yenagoa city. I have seen and heard, in the media, when the prosperity Government of Douye Diri, talking about the numerous projects going on, around the state.

Many are testifying, that, indeed the prosperity Government is working to really develop the state. There was a post I saw on social media, where someone compared the developmental stride of Bayelsa and that of Ebonyi state, when someone commented, that, Bayelsa state, especially the state Capital, yenagoa, is a glorified village. I almost wept, in terms of comparism base on inflow and wealth of the government, Ebonyi state can not be compared with Bayelsa, but my Bayelsa is described as a glorified village, a whole glory of all lands in the federal Republic of Nigeria.

But, the above is just to say this; Tarakirivoice team made a tour around Akenfa Area of the yenagoa city. for those who are not, that, conversant with the yenagoa city, let me give a little description about the Akenfa area in the yenagoa city, the state Capital of Bayelsa state.

Akenfa, is one of the communities in the state Capital, Yenagoa! If you are coming from Government house, which is the sit of the Governor. Akenfa is after Agudama, Agudama is after Edepie and Akenpie, which share boundaries with the popular Tombia Round About. Tombia round about is the yenagoa city centre, and so is not bad to say, Akenfa, is a stone throw away from Tombia, the Yenagoa city centre.

Akenfa is comprises of Akenfa I,II and III, on this occasions the Tarakirivoice team were taking a tour around the Akenfa axis and come across this abandoned bridge, on our little investigation, the bridge was abandoned since 2008, that it a project that was instituted by shell to NDDC but since 2008 this project has been abandoned, the whole place is clearly an eye sour.

Fortunately, the location and how the bridge is situated is strategic for the expansion and development of the Bayelsa state Capital and is economical in nature.

The bridge is situated in Akenfa 1, Connecting the Akenfa II of the Tombia- Mbiama road and the glory drive, which is the new express way that was built by the prosperity government of Douye Diri, Connecting the Igbogene axis of the state Capital to Tombia-Amassoma road of the City and that leads to the state international Airport.

By this publication, all of us at Tarakirivoice is begging the Prosperity Government as a matter of urgency, expedite efforts to direct the appropriate quarters to go to work, to bring this project in its moribund state, and turn it into  a project, that is befitting, for a state capital that is the glory of all lands.

This will cause a drastic expansion and a face lift to the yenagoa city and the acolate shall be given to the prosperity Governor.
