A young entrepreneur from Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, has stirred massive reactions online after reportedly splashing ₦35 million on a brand-new Mercedes Benz to celebrate her 20th birthday.
The businesswoman, whose identity has not been officially disclosed, shared photos and videos of her luxury ride on social media, boasting that it was her third car purchase before turning 20.
Her post, which carried the caption “Hard work pays. This is my 3rd car before 20”, quickly went viral under the hashtag #Gistyentown, attracting both admiration and ridicule from Nigerians online.
While some users congratulated her on her success, others flooded the comment section with disbelief and sarcasm.
> “Almost knocking the front door of menopause. No be only 20 nah 200,” one user joked.
> Another commented, “Everybody na twenty years for Yenagoa. Wahala.”
Many questioned the source of her wealth and the authenticity of her claimed age, with remarks like:
> “20 years dey buy weytin? 35 million naira? Abeg talk well,” and“Where the money come from? Before turning what???”
Some users, however, urged critics to allow young entrepreneurs to celebrate their wins, insisting that not everyone making progress at a young age is involved in illegitimate ventures.
> “You see pressure? Nobody fit pressure me for this life. I’m doing well for my age,” one commenter added in defense.
The post has since become a trending topic among Bayelsa youth and lifestyle influencers, once again fueling debates about age claims, social media pressure, and the luxury lifestyle culture among Nigerian youths.
