The Leadership of the Coalition of the Niger-Delta Ex-agitators has eulogised Chief PA E.K Clark.
The National Chairman of Phase II Presidential Amnesty Programme, Gen. Aso Tambo, Bayelsa State Chairman, Gen. Paul Johnson and Delta State Chairman, Solomon Adu, poured encomium on the respected Elder Stateman.
Chief Edwin Clark born 25th May 1927 is a Nigerian nationalist, Ijaw leader and Stateman from Delta State, who worked with the administrations of military governor Samuel Ogbemudia and head of state, General Yakubu Gowon between 1966 and 1975.
In a meeting the Elder Stateman hosted in his Abuja resident between Niger-Delta Ex-agitators and The Interim Administrator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme, Maj.Gen Barry Tariye Ndiomu and among other dignitaries from the Niger-Delta region.
recall, Tarakirivoice reported the months long battle between the Niger-Delta Ex-agitators and the Interim Administrator of the presidential Amnesty Programme.
This was as a result of the Interim Administrator delisting some names from the pay role of the presidential Amnesty programme in his first month in office and the suspension of over 3,000 Bank account on the ground of linking one BVN to multiple accounts.
This has caused a rift between the Interim Administrator and the Ex-agitators, leading to building up tension in the Niger-Delta.
Chief Clark in this meeting where our correspondent was present, resolved the issues between the Interim Administrator and the Ex-agitators and he (Ndiomu) had promised to pay the backlog of arrears.
Our correspondent reported that a four man delegation was immediately appointed by the Interim Administrator, Maj.Gen. Barry Tariye Ndiomu to bring the age long disagreement to a final conclusion.
Aso Tambo, The National Chairman of Phase II, while responding to our correspondent said, E.k Clark is a figure in the Niger-Delta and in the history of Nigeria, his a father and a national leader.
The 96 years old man, Launched his book which he tittled ” Brutally Frank” was attended by dignitaries from all works of life. His Excellency Bola Ahmed Tinubu, president federal Republic of Nigeria describes him as “The Iroko Of South-South, Eagle Of The Nation”
Former Head of State, General Dr. Yakubu Gowon(Rtd) also described Chief Edwin Clark as one of the greatest Nigerians that made effort to bring about genuine reconciliation between the North and South after the Nigerian Civil war.
