Teenager arraigned for allegedly stealing properties worth N340,000

A teenager, Oluwatosin Ananfor, on Friday appeared before an Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court, for allegedly stealing properties worth N340,000.
Ananfor, 18, whose address was not provided, is standing trial on a two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing, preferred against him by the police
The police prosecutor, Insp John Iberedem, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on July 1, at 11.45 p.m., in Agege area, Ikeja, Lagos.
Iberedem told the court that the defendant conspired with others still at large and stole properties worth N340,000, which belonged to the complainant, one Mr Azubuike Okereke.
According to him, the properties stolen were, a gas cylinder worth N85,000, a water pumping machine worth N120,000, a car battery worth N55,000 and a mobile phone worth N80,000.
“The complainant was not around at the time the incident happened,”
Iberedem said.
He said that the offences contravened Sections 287 and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The prosecutor asked the court for an adjournment to enable him study the case file and present his witnesses.
The Magistrate, Mrs E. Kubeinje, granted bail to the defendant in the sum of N100,000 with two responsible sureties in like sum.
She said that the sureties should be gainfully employed and should show evidence of tax payments to the state government.
The case was adjourned until Aug. 20 for mention.
