Families calls for arrest of traditional ruler, CDC chairman, others in Bayelsa

The Ekpetun/Feghe families have petition the Assistant Inspector-General of Police, Zone 16, () to immediately arrest, investigate and prosecute HRH Kipasa Emcy, CDC Chairman Mr Peaceful Samson and other leaders for amongst other things violation of fundamental rights allegedly perpetrated against members of its families and Tonbini-polo compound/quarters in Agbidiama community in Bayelsa state.

In the petition dated 1/11/2023, signed by the families’ Solicitors and was made available to Tarakirivoice, read in parts, 

“We are Solicitors to the Ekpetun/Feghe family  led by High Chief Ebimene Julius Ekpetun (Compound Chief), High Chief Ebiama Ofonibenghan, Elder Patrick Feghe and Elder Josiah Feghe of Tonbini-polo Compound in Agbidiama Community, Ekeremor LGA, Bayelsa state and on whose behalf and unequivocal instructions we write you as follows;

“Recall that sequel to a petition to your station, the zone 16 of the Nigeria Police Force dated 24th July, 2023, and after series of meetings parties were instructed and strongly warned to maintain status quo pending the final verdict in the proceedings of the civil suit  filed at the Bayelsa State High Court, Ekeremor Judicial Division. 

“That on the 26th day of October, 2023, proceedings bordering on the member, board of trustees which has been pending at the State High Court began sitting

“That on the said date the matter was fixed for hearing but HRH, Kipasa Emcy and his fellow defendants did not attend court

“That in view of the their absence as defendants, the court adjourned proceedings to 3rd November and ordered that hearing notice be served on the defendants before the next adjourned date

“That the next day being the 27th day of October, HRH, Kipasa Emcy, Mr. Ebiboloukaemi Agobra and Chief Philip Driver Ekeme-reghe was served hearing notice while others evaded service. 

“That  after being served hearing and in flagrant disregard of the police instructions and warning, HRH, Kipasa Emcy, Mr. Peaceful Samson, Ebiboloukaemi Agobra and the their cohorts mobilized themselves to Agbidiama community on the 30th day of October, 2023.

“Upon their arrival in the community alongside their cohorts, they convened an emergency meeting in the community and used their powers, authority and influence to declare a ban on the Ekpetun/Feghe family and made the following pronouncements/declarations:

a. That Tonbini-polo Compound will not produce the next CDC Chairman which is ordinarily zoned to the compound/quarter in line with the zoning system/sharing formula of the community

That no member of the Ekpetun/Feghe family including women and children should be allowed to step in or out of the community. 

c. That no member of the Ekpetun/Feghe family should allowed to buy or sale anything or do business of any kind with any indigene of the community. That any person found transacting business of any kind with any member of our Clients family will be fined N10,000 (Ten thousand naira)

d. That members of the Ekpetun/Feghe family including women and children should not be seen talking to any other indigene of the community 

e. That any person that is seen talking to any member our Clients family will be imposed with a fine of N10, 000 (Ten thousand naira) 

f. That electricity connections in the houses owned and occupied by members of the Ekpetun/Feghe family should be immediately disconnected forth with

g. That members of our Client’s family in the CDC and youth executives be immediately suspended, including all their rights and privileges 

h. Children of the Ekpetun/family not to attend the community schools

i. That any opportunity (employment, contract) that is currently being enjoyed by any member of our Client’s family be forcefully taken away from them.”

“The CDC Chairman Mr, Peaceful Samson and the Youth President, Mr. Mike Agobra mobilized their loyalists/executive members and disconnected the electricity supply to all the houses and premises owned and occupied by members of the Ekpetun/Feghe families.”
