The 9th edition of Nigeria’s Mining Week conference and expo holds from November 18 to 20, 2024 in Abuja.
The announcement was made on Wednesday when stakeholders from the mining sectors gathered to address the press on the forthcoming expo.
It is an annual gathering of mining pioneers, investors, regulators, suppliers and service providers organised by the Miners Association of Nigeria (MAN) in collaboration with PwC Nigeria and Vuka Group, but hosted by the Ministry of Solid Minerals Development.
Samukelo Madlabane, the event director and organiser VUKA Group said, “We have worked tirelessly and done our utmost to find an excellent alternative venue with world-class amenities in the Nigerian capital and to keep the event dates as close to the original dates as possible to avoid too many changes in travel plans for speakers.
“All that said, everything is in place for another compelling and ground breaking event, and the team is looking forward to meeting up with our clients, industry allies and VIPs. We are incredibly grateful for the commitment and support shown by our longstanding partners.”
Dele Ayanleke, president of the Miners Association of Nigeria (MAN) said, “Our association has been proud to see the development and growth of a real Nigerian mining family since the start of Nigeria Mining Week.
In her speech, the permanent secretary, Ministry of Solid Minerals Development, Dr Mary Ogbe, who represented the Minister Dr. Dele Alake said Nigeria Mining week has grown to become the premier platform for stakeholders in the mining industry, both from within Nigeria and across the globe, where everyone gather to engage in meaningful dialogue about the limitless opportunities in Nigeria’s mining sector.
“This annual gathering has consistently served as a catalyst for advancing the discourse on the critical role our mineral resources play in driving national economic growth, and this year’s edition is poised to continue this tradition at an even higher level.
“As we embark on this 9th edition, it is important to reflect on the tremendous progress made thus far in the sector by the present administration. Nigeria is home to some of the most valuable untapped mineral resources in the world, and as we continue to reform and restructure our regulatory frameworks, the focus remains on unlocking the full potential of these resources in ways that align with sustainable development goals.”
The theme for this year’s conference, she said, would be centered on the nation’s shared commitment to utilising the vast mineral wealth that would propel Nigeria’s economic transformation in line with the federal government’s Renewed Hope Agenda, which emphasizes value addition, job creation and positioning Nigeria as a strategic player in the global commodities market.
