Benin City, Nigeria – Benson Idahosa University (BIU) yesterday hosted the Israeli Ambassador to Nigeria, Mr. Michael Freeman, at the university’s International Leadership Idea Exchange (ILIX) event, where both parties unveiled plans for major collaborative projects spanning renewable energy, agriculture, and healthcare.
The visit marked a significant milestone in BIU’s growing commitment to international partnerships aimed at driving innovation and sustainable development. According to a statement shared by the university’s President, Bishop Feb Idahosa, the forthcoming collaborations will cover solar energy projects with the Faculty of Engineering, greenhouse technology with the Faculty of Agricultural Technology, and medical innovations with the Faculty of Medical Sciences, encompassing medicine, nursing, and laboratory science.
“These initiatives are expected to launch within the next six to twelve months,” Bishop Idahosa noted, expressing gratitude to Ambassador Freeman and his delegation for their support and shared vision.
Ambassador Freeman commended the university’s leadership for its forward-looking approach to education and its dedication to practical, problem-solving research. He emphasized Israel’s readiness to work closely with Nigerian institutions like BIU to promote innovation, sustainability, and technology-driven development across key sectors.
The International Leadership Idea Exchange (ILIX) serves as a flagship forum of Benson Idahosa University, bringing together global thought leaders, diplomats, and industry experts to foster intellectual collaboration and leadership development among students and faculty.
