NCDMB, Renaissance Africa Launch Digital Skills Training for 60 Nigerian Graduates

The Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB), in partnership with Renaissance Africa Energy Limited, has officially commenced a Human Capacity Development (HCD) Training Programme on Software Development with Python and Cisco Networking (CCNA & CCNP), reinforcing efforts to build a digitally skilled workforce for Nigeria’s oil and gas industry.
The training programme, which began on Thursday, July 16, 2026, in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, is designed to prepare young Nigerian graduates with globally relevant digital and networking skills required in the evolving energy sector.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, the General Manager, Capacity Building, NCDMB, Ms. Alexis Emelle, described the Oil and Gas Field Readiness Initiative as a strategic investment in Nigeria’s future workforce.
She explained that the 12-month programme will train 60 graduate participants through an intensive six-month classroom learning phase, followed by six months of practical on-the-job training. According to her, the initiative aligns with the Board’s Nigerian Content Human Capacity Development mandate and supports the implementation of the Nigerian Content 10-Year Strategic Roadmap.
Emelle stressed that the programme is aimed at producing globally competitive Nigerian professionals capable of driving digital transformation and innovation within the nation’s oil and gas industry.
Representatives of Renaissance Africa Energy Limited and the programme’s training partner, Radial Circle, also reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening indigenous capacity development. They encouraged participants to take full advantage of the opportunity, highlighting that the training would expose them to internationally recognised certifications and practical industry experience.
The representatives further provided participants with an overview of the programme’s structure, learning objectives and expected outcomes, emphasizing the importance of professionalism, discipline and continuous learning throughout the training period.
A major highlight of the event was the signing of the trainees’ Code of Conduct, the formal introduction of facilitators and a group photograph, symbolising the official commencement of the capacity-building initiative.
The programme forms part of NCDMB’s broader strategy to deepen Nigerian participation in the oil and gas industry by equipping local talent with cutting-edge digital competencies that are increasingly becoming essential in the global energy landscape.
