Ooni Honours First Lady Remi Tinubu as Yeye Asiwaju Gbogbo Ile Oodua

Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has been conferred with one of the most culturally revered titles in Yoruba land — Yeye Asiwaju Gbogbo Ile Oodua — by His Imperial Majesty, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, Ojaja II, the Ooni of Ife.
The honour was bestowed during the grand celebration of the monarch’s 10th Coronation Anniversary, drawing national attention and praise from leaders, political stakeholders, and cultural icons.
In a glowing tribute, Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Abbas Tajudeen, joined millions of Nigerians and the entire Yoruba race to salute the First Lady on what he described as a “well-deserved tribute to a life of service, compassion and leadership.”
“This honour is more than a title – it is a recognition of a life steeped in service, compassion, leadership, and an unshakable commitment to humanity,” Tajudeen stated, applauding the Ooni of Ife for preserving cultural heritage and rewarding exemplary contribution.
He celebrated Senator Tinubu as a “beacon of grace and strength,” referencing her decades of public service, humanitarian work, and tireless advocacy for women and the less privileged.
“Her humanitarian credentials, her bridge-building across tribes and faiths, and her consistent advocacy for women and the less privileged continue to illuminate the path for millions,” he said.
As the First Lady steps into the revered role of Yeye Asiwaju, the Speaker prayed that God will grant her “wisdom, favour, longevity, and boundless blessings,” adding that even greater celebrations await her in the years ahead.
“Congratulations, Yeye Asiwaju!” he declared.
The historic installation further strengthens the cultural bond between the Tinubu family and the ancient Yoruba throne, marking a milestone moment in the First Lady’s impactful national journey.
