Sowore Explodes: “They Expelled Me, Jailed Me, Killed My Brother—But They Couldn’t Break Me”

By Passman Akpos

Human rights activist and former presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore has accused the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu of continuing what he described as years of political persecution against him, his family, associates, and supporters.

In a strongly worded statement shared on his social media platforms, Sowore alleged that those he blames for Nigeria’s longstanding challenges have consistently targeted him, claiming that the current All Progressives Congress (APC) government has intensified the campaign against him.

According to Sowore, the alleged persecution has affected multiple aspects of his life, including his education, career, freedom of movement, and family.

He claimed he was expelled from university twice, had his National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) certificate withheld to frustrate his employment prospects, and repeatedly had his international passport confiscated through what he described as the actions of “wicked judges and lawless DSS,” leaving him separated from his family for extended periods.

The activist further alleged that he has been imprisoned, prosecuted, physically assaulted, and subjected to persistent harassment. He also claimed that his brother was killed as part of the persecution directed at him.

Despite these experiences, Sowore maintained that the actions taken against him have failed to weaken his determination.

“They have failed. Persecution cannot defeat conviction, and these acts will not delay their day of judgment,” he declared.

The statement was accompanied by the hashtags #TakeItBack, #Sowore2027, and #RevolutionNow, signaling his continued political activism and advocacy.

As of the time of filing this report, the Presidency, the Department of State Services (DSS), and the All Progressives Congress (APC) had not publicly responded to Sowore’s latest allegations.

The claims remain those of Sowore, and there has been no independent verification of the specific allegations contained in his statement.
