Tension in Rivers state as Gov Fubara and Wike relationship cracks

By Peregba Jerry
The political marriage between the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike and Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State seemingly hit the rock today as crack between the duo emerges.
The Guardian reports say this is sequel to Wike’s overbearing nature and control of things in the state he relinquished power from on May 29, despite serving as FCT Minister.
The publication noted that stakeholders in the state had expressed concern over seemingly slow pace of effective governance barely six months after Fubara was sworn-in to office.
Amid the rift between Wike and Fubara, suspected thugs on Sunday invaded the Assembly complex and burnt the building using Improvised Explosive Devices (IED).
Few hours ago, the House Leader of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Hon Edison Ehie, was removed from his position as the Leader of the House by what is believed is being masterminded by Wike.
However, in reaction, Fubara burst out on Monday with his supporters and described the suspension of Edison Ehie as null and void.
Further reports say Rivers State House of Assembly has been factionalized – one side (Governor Sim Fubara) and the other side (Wike).
The feud between the duo became visible after the swearing in if the latest Commissioners.
It was also gathered that Wike was not happy with Fubara’s move to revive Shonghai Farm and other initiated programs that will benefit the people.
