“These Claims Are False!” — Shoot At Sight Denies Alleged Tompolo Cash, Private Jet Deal, Blasts Social Media Attackers: “Ring-Light, Camera, Keyboard Don’t Confer Wisdom!”

Senior High Chief Bibopere Ajube, popularly known as “Shoot at Sight,” has categorically denied reports that High Chief Government Ekpemupolo, alias Tompolo, offered him money or arranged a private jet to persuade him to attend the recently concluded Ijaw unity gathering in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State.

Ajube, the Beleukoriwei (Pathfinder) of Arogbo Ijaw Kingdom, made the clarification in a strongly worded public statement issued on Sunday, September 6, 2026, following the circulation of social media publications linking his absence from the gathering to an alleged refusal to accept money from Tompolo.

He described the claims as false, insisting that neither money nor a private jet was offered, provided or arranged for him in connection with the event.

“For the avoidance of doubt, I state once again: High Chief Government Ekpemupolo (Tompolo) did not offer me money which I refused to accept, nor did he provide, arrange or offer me a private jet to persuade me to attend the recently concluded Ijaw unity gathering in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State,” Ajube stated.

“These claims are false.”

Shoot At Sight Rejects Viral Narrative

Ajube’s statement comes days after reports and social media commentary alleged that he declined an invitation to the September 1 Ijaw Mega Unity Reception after allegedly discovering that former Niger Delta agitator, Victor-Ben Ebikabowei, popularly known as Boyloaf, was not invited.

A report previously published by Tarakirivoice had cited allegations made by Apostle Comrade Daniel Ezekiel Perela, who claimed that Tompolo allegedly sent money and a plane in an attempt to bring Shoot at Sight to the gathering.

Ezekiel further alleged that Ajube rejected the arrangement after questioning why Boyloaf was allegedly excluded.

According to the earlier allegation, Ajube was said to have declared that he was “not hungry” and allegedly returned the money.

However, Ajube’s latest statement directly challenges that account, making it clear that the alleged financial inducement and private-jet arrangement never happened.

He urged members of the public and the media to disregard publications presenting the claims as established facts.

‘We Cannot Resolve Differences Through Falsehood’

Beyond denying the allegations, Shoot at Sight used the opportunity to warn against turning disagreements among Ijaw leaders into personal hostility.

He argued that differences of opinion among leaders, elders, stakeholders and communities were inevitable but should not be distorted into accusations of disloyalty or betrayal.

“Whatever differences exist cannot be resolved through falsehood,” he declared.

Ajube said discussions about Ijaw unity must be built on truth, warning that reconciliation efforts could be undermined when stories about events that allegedly never occurred are circulated as facts.

“We cannot genuinely speak about unity and reconciliation while circulating stories about events that never happened,” he stated.

“If we seek understanding among our people, then truth must be the foundation of that process.”

Shoot At Sight Takes Aim At Social Media Attacks

Ajube also criticised what he described as a continuing campaign of “unsubstantiated allegations and personal attacks” against him by Mr. Freeborn Abaraye.

While acknowledging Abaraye’s right to disagree with his positions, Ajube insisted that public criticism should be based on evidence, facts and ideas rather than rumours and personal attacks.

He delivered a particularly sharp warning about the growing influence of social media in shaping public opinion.

“Social media has democratized public expression, but it should not create the impression that a ring-light, a camera, a keyboard and sufficient data automatically confer wisdom or expertise,” he said.

“They do not.”

According to him, having the ability to broadcast one’s opinions online should not be confused with possessing informed knowledge on the issues being discussed.

“The ability to go live is not the same as having something informed to say,” he added.

‘Do Not Speak For Me’

Ajube further warned the public and media organisations against attributing statements to him without verification.

He said he had established platforms and recognised channels through which he communicates publicly and would personally take responsibility for any position he expresses.

“The public and the media should therefore disregard any statement, quotation or position attributed to me which was neither authored by me nor issued through my recognized channels,” he said.

“Attaching my name or photograph to a publication does not make it my statement. Where I have spoken, quote me. Where I have not spoken, do not speak for me.”

Fresh Controversy Over Ijaw Unity

The clarification adds a new dimension to the controversy surrounding the September 1 Ijaw Mega Unity Reception held at Ijaw House, Yenagoa.

The gathering, hosted by Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri, followed reconciliation efforts aimed at resolving the leadership crisis within the Ijaw National Congress (INC).

The event brought together political leaders, traditional rulers, youth representatives, academics and other stakeholders and was presented as a major demonstration of Ijaw unity.

Tompolo was among the prominent figures present at the gathering.

Governor Diri had urged Ijaw stakeholders to put their differences aside, describing the unity of the Ijaw nation as non-negotiable.

But the event has since generated intense debate over representation, inclusion and the unresolved disagreements among influential figures within the Ijaw political and former militant landscape.

A Correction That Changes The Narrative

Shoot at Sight’s statement now places a major caveat on one of the most explosive narratives to emerge from the gathering.

The earlier allegation that Tompolo allegedly offered money and arranged a private jet for Ajube is categorically denied by Ajube himself.

While the circumstances surrounding his absence from the event remain a subject of public discussion, Ajube has made it clear that the specific claims concerning money and a private jet should not be presented as facts.

His intervention also raises a broader question about the quality of information circulating in the highly charged debate over Ijaw unity.

As the reconciliation process continues to attract public attention, Ajube’s message is unequivocal: disagreements may be unavoidable, but he insists they must be based on facts—not manufactured events, rumours or unverified claims.

“If we genuinely seek unity, let us begin with truth,” he concluded.
