Tinubu Breaks Silence On The Woman Behind His Toughest Moments: “You Stayed Calm And Prayed With Me”

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has celebrated his wife, First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu, on her 66th birthday, describing her as his “truest friend and confidante” and praising her for standing by him through the different seasons of their life together.
In a deeply personal birthday message titled “I Would Choose The Same Road That Led Me To You,” Tinubu addressed his wife affectionately as “Oluremi mi” and reflected on the years they have spent together.
The President invoked the Yoruba proverb, “Ìyàwó rere ni adé ọkọ rẹ̀,” meaning “A good wife is her husband’s crown,” saying Oluremi had given the words true meaning in his life
“Today, I celebrate the woman who has walked beside me with patience, grace and uncommon courage,” Tinubu said.
He praised Oluremi for standing beside him during difficult moments, saying the burdens that were his to bear often found their way onto her shoulders.
According to the President, his wife has also been able to understand thoughts and emotions he sometimes struggled to express.
“In difficult times, when the future was uncertain, you stayed calm beside me and prayed with me,” he wrote.
Tinubu described Oluremi as the person who truly understands him and said she often senses when he needs counsel before he asks for it.
He particularly praised her honesty, saying she tells him the truth even when it is something he would rather not hear.
“I call you my truest friend and confidante because you speak the truth plainly, even on the days I would rather not hear it,” Tinubu stated.
The President also praised Oluremi’s role in their family, saying their children and grandchildren have grown under the influence of her prayers, faith and values.
“Our home bears the lasting imprint of your devotion. Our children and grandchildren have grown beneath the shelter of your prayers. They carry your values of faith and kindness wherever life takes them,” he said.
Tinubu also highlighted Oluremi’s humanitarian activities, referencing her work through the New Era Foundation during their years in Lagos and the Renewed Hope Initiative.
He said her efforts have reached young people, widows, elderly citizens and women farmers across Nigeria.
The President also praised her advocacy for people affected by tuberculosis and other diseases, describing her as a compassionate advocate and determined champion.
According to Tinubu, Oluremi’s compassion cuts across ethnic, regional and religious boundaries.
“For you, compassion has never recognised the boundaries of tribe, region or religion,” he said.
Reflecting on their long journey together, Tinubu said the experience had taught him the value of having a good partner.
“A long journey teaches a man the true value of a good partner. We have travelled a long road together,” he wrote.
The President then made one of the most striking declarations in the tribute.
“If life returned me to the beginning, I would choose the same road that led me to you. Through every mile, my heart has always remained at home with you,” Tinubu said.
He thanked Oluremi for the life they have built together and prayed for many more years of good health and happiness.
“Happy 66th birthday, my darling Oluremi. I pray that God Almighty will grant you many more years in good health and joy,” the President concluded.
