Troops Bust Kidnap Ring, Rescue Woman, Recover ₦8 Million Ransom in Plateau Forest Operation

QUA’AN PAN, PLATEAU STATE — Troops of Operation ENDURING PEACE have successfully rescued a kidnapped woman and recovered ₦8 million ransom in a decisive operation targeting criminal networks in Plateau State.
The military operation, carried out on Saturday, April 25, 2026, followed days of intelligence-driven tracking after the victim was abducted on April 19 from the Bauna area of Shendam Local Government Area.
According to military authorities, a breakthrough came after the arrest and interrogation of a suspect linked to the crime. The suspect reportedly confessed, leading troops to the kidnappers’ hideout deep within Padam Forest in Qua’an Pan Local Government Area.
Security forces stormed the location, rescuing the victim unharmed and recovering the full ₦8 million ransom earlier paid by her family. The victim was immediately taken to the General Hospital in Shendam for medical evaluation before being reunited with her relatives.
Military officials described the operation as a major success in ongoing efforts to dismantle kidnapping syndicates operating within the region. Troops have since launched follow-up operations across Qua’an Pan and Shendam LGAs to track down other members of the criminal gang.
Operation ENDURING PEACE commended residents for their cooperation and urged the public to continue providing timely intelligence to support security efforts.
