₦1.05m Giveaway Scandal Deepens! Bribena Reports 21 Payments, Three Beneficiaries Accused Of Collecting Twice!

By Passman Akpos
YENAGOA, BAYELSA STATE — Fresh revelations have emerged in the controversial ₦1.05 million Facebook popcorn giveaway involving Pastor and Architect Miebi Bribena and Bayelsa-based media personality and activist Jonah Daumieye, with Bribena announcing that only 21 payments have so far been made out of the 100 intended beneficiaries.
In his latest update, Bribena disclosed that three individuals allegedly received payments twice but failed to return the duplicate transfers.
He consequently announced that the three individuals would be permanently disqualified from receiving any further popcorn benefits.
The latest development has added another dimension to the controversy, which has generated widespread reactions on social media over allegations of non-payment, questionable financial records and the handling of funds meant for selected beneficiaries.
BRIBENA RELEASES NAMES OF BENEFICIARIES
In a statement circulated on social media, Bribena provided a list of beneficiaries he said had received payments so far.
The names published in his update include:
- Mienake Alukuzu — reportedly paid twice.
- Ruth Amina Uwadia.
- Edward Ebiwapre Appolos.
- Ebipuamene Robertson Mark.
- Egophagha Shadrach.
- Ngbaikpo Simeon Ayebanua.
- Pakapiri Woko — reportedly paid twice.
- Ebiere Gams Borogha — reportedly paid twice.
- Daniel Oyibe Nwite.
- Saviour Mathew Eniaman.
- Rita Chikezie.
- Confidence Chionyerem Innocent.
- Uchechukwu Emelda Nwafor.
- Emeka Nwobodo.
- Okiti Someone.
Bribena’s update also indicated that the payments were part of an ongoing exercise to settle the 100 selected beneficiaries.
However, the published list contains 15 distinct names, with three individuals marked as having received payments twice. Bribena described the overall number of payments completed as 21.
THREE BENEFICIARIES PERMANENTLY BANNED
One of the most significant aspects of Bribena’s latest announcement concerns the alleged duplicate payments.
According to him, three beneficiaries received money twice but did not return the additional payments.
He announced that the individuals would be permanently banned from any future popcorn benefits.
The announcement has raised further questions about the payment verification process, the handling of duplicate transfers and whether the affected beneficiaries were contacted to explain the circumstances.
‘I WILL GRADUALLY SORT THE REST OUT’
Despite the controversy, Bribena indicated that the distribution exercise was continuing.
He stated that he would gradually settle the remaining beneficiaries, suggesting that the payment process had not been completed.
The latest update comes after Bribena previously alleged that approximately 72 out of the 100 selected beneficiaries complained that they had not received their promised ₦10,000 payments.
He had also reportedly issued a 72-hour ultimatum to Daumieye, threatening legal action if the outstanding payments were not resolved.
RECALL: ₦1.05 MILLION GIVEAWAY CONTROVERSY
Tarakirivoice Newspaper had earlier reported that the controversy centred on ₦1.05 million reportedly sent by Bribena to Daumieye for a Facebook giveaway involving 100 beneficiaries.
According to the initial account, ₦1 million was intended for the beneficiaries, with each person expected to receive ₦10,000, while an additional ₦50,000 was reportedly provided for handling expenses, transfer charges and compensation.
The controversy escalated after Bribena alleged that dozens of beneficiaries complained of non-payment despite claims that most of the transfers had been completed.
Additional allegations concerning beneficiary replacement and questionable transfer receipts also emerged during the controversy. These allegations have not been independently established by Tarakirivoice.
QUESTIONS THAT STILL REQUIRE ANSWERS
Although Bribena’s latest announcement provides additional information about the payment exercise, several questions remain unanswered:
- Why have only 21 payments reportedly been completed out of the 100 intended beneficiaries?
- What happened to the money allocated to the remaining beneficiaries?
- Can verifiable transaction records be provided for all completed payments?
- What steps are being taken to resolve complaints from unpaid beneficiaries?
- Have the three individuals allegedly paid twice been contacted for explanations?
- What is Jonah Daumieye’s response to the latest revelations?
ACCOUNTABILITY MUST INCLUDE TRANSPARENCY
The unfolding controversy highlights the importance of transparency whenever individuals are entrusted with money intended for public beneficiaries.
While the latest disclosure introduces allegations of duplicate payments involving three beneficiaries, it does not resolve the outstanding questions surrounding the distribution of the remaining funds.
Tarakirivoice Newspaper believes that all parties involved should provide verifiable records to establish what was received, what was transferred and what remains outstanding.
Jonah Daumieye should also be given an opportunity to respond to the latest allegations, while beneficiaries who have not received their payments deserve clear explanations.
The central question remains: Out of the ₦1.05 million reportedly released for the giveaway, where is the money meant for the beneficiaries who are yet to be paid?
This is a developing story.
