Breaking: Sowore Releases Chilling Attack Video As CCTV Recordings Allegedly Vanish — Who Ordered The Wipe, Who Is Protecting The Suspected Attackers, And Is Ekiti Police Hiding The Truth?

By Passman Akpos

Fresh video evidence has reportedly emerged showing the faces of individuals allegedly involved in the brutal October 30, 2026, attack on activist and African Action Congress (AAC) leader Omoyele Sowore, members of his team, and party supporters in Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State.

The development, described by Sowore as a major breakthrough, comes amid mounting controversy over the handling of the investigation by security agencies and allegations that crucial CCTV recordings from the scene of the incident have been erased.

In a statement, Sowore disclosed that the newly recovered footage captured the faces of individuals allegedly involved in the assault on members of his team during the attack at Tawakalitu Restaurant in Ado-Ekiti.

The emergence of the video is expected to intensify calls for a transparent and independent investigation into the incident, which has raised serious concerns about the safety of opposition political figures and the protection of citizens’ rights.

CCTV FOOTAGE ALLEGEDLY ERASED

Sowore raised alarm over what he described as disturbing developments surrounding the CCTV recordings from Tawakalitu Restaurant, where the attack reportedly occurred.

According to him, the restaurant’s surveillance equipment was taken away by police officers and operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS) before being returned without the original recordings.

He alleged that the CCTV recordings had been completely wiped, potentially destroying critical evidence that could have helped identify the attackers and establish the circumstances surrounding the assault.

Sowore further claimed that the restaurant’s management confirmed that a Divisional Police Officer (DPO) returned the CCTV equipment but declined to identify the officer allegedly responsible for its return.

The allegation has raised questions about the chain of custody of the surveillance equipment and whether the handling of the recordings complied with established investigative procedures.

SOWORE QUESTIONS EKITI POLICE COMMAND

In another development, Sowore disclosed that he contacted the Ekiti State Commissioner of Police, Michael Falade; the DPO of Ado-Ekiti Central Police Station, Mustapha Mohammed; and the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) Commander to demand updates on the investigation.

However, he expressed outrage over the alleged response from the officers, claiming they insisted that there was no complainant because he had not submitted a written statement.

Sowore questioned the position of the police, arguing that officers had allegedly rescued the victims, taken them to a hospital, arrested suspects, and recovered weapons, stolen phones, and other electronic devices in connection with the incident.

He described the alleged claim that there was no complainant as disturbing, given the reported actions already taken by law enforcement officers following the attack.

The activist also said he questioned the officers over phones allegedly traced electronically to the Governor’s Lodge and the disappearance of the CCTV recordings.

According to Sowore, the officers denied knowledge of the issues raised and abruptly ended the conversation.

The claims have not been independently verified, and the police authorities have yet to publicly provide a comprehensive account of the investigation in the statement supplied by Sowore.

STOLEN PHONES, GOVERNOR’S LODGE AND QUESTIONS OVER EVIDENCE

The alleged electronic tracing of stolen phones to the Governor’s Lodge has introduced another dimension to the controversy.

Sowore’s claims raise questions about the whereabouts of the devices, the identities of individuals who may have handled them, and whether electronic tracking information is being properly investigated.

However, the reported location of the phones does not, on its own, establish the involvement of any individual or institution in the attack.

The allegations surrounding the missing CCTV recordings and the handling of recovered items have nevertheless intensified demands for accountability.

Sowore described the unfolding developments as evidence of what he believes to be a coordinated cover-up involving elements of the Nigeria Police Force hierarchy in Ekiti State.

These allegations remain unproven and require a thorough, independent investigation.

SOWORE DEMANDS REMOVAL OF EKITI POLICE COMMISSIONER

Following the emergence of the video and the reported disappearance of the CCTV recordings, Sowore called for the establishment of an independent investigative body to identify those involved in the attack and determine whether any security personnel compromised the investigation.

He also demanded the removal of Commissioner of Police Michael Falade and other officers he accused of participating in or facilitating an alleged cover-up.

The activist insisted that the identities and roles of the individuals captured in the newly recovered footage must be established through a credible investigative process.

The demand places the Ekiti State Police Command under renewed public scrutiny, particularly over its handling of evidence and the reported arrest of suspects.

PUBLIC INTEREST AND ACCOUNTABILITY

The October 30 attack has raised broader concerns about political violence, the safety of opposition figures, and the responsibility of security agencies to protect citizens regardless of their political affiliation.

The emergence of footage reportedly showing the faces of alleged attackers could provide investigators with important leads.

However, the credibility of the investigation will depend on whether the video is properly authenticated, whether the individuals captured are formally identified, and whether the evidence is preserved for possible prosecution.

The alleged disappearance of CCTV recordings also requires urgent clarification from the police, the DSS, and the management of Tawakalitu Restaurant.

As of the time of this report, the allegations of CCTV erasure, police misconduct, and a coordinated cover-up remain claims made by Sowore and have not been independently established.

Tarakirivoice Newspaper will continue to monitor developments surrounding the incident and efforts to establish accountability.

The central question remains: Who attacked Omoyele Sowore’s team in Ado-Ekiti, and will the authorities ensure that those responsible are brought to justice?
