“2027 Battle Begins: Janakumo Storms Constituency 3, Vows to End ‘Business as Usual’ Politics”

Political momentum ahead of the 2027 general elections gained further traction in Bayelsa State on Tuesday as Hon. Alex Janakumo formally declared his intention to contest for a seat in the Bayelsa State House of Assembly, Constituency 3.

Janakumo, who is seeking the ticket of the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC), made his declaration in the early hours of April 21 before a crowd of enthusiastic supporters drawn largely from Ward 11 and Ward 12. The gathering signaled what observers described as an early consolidation of grassroots backing in the constituency.

Addressing his supporters, Janakumo outlined his vision for effective representation, pledging to prioritize grassroots development and foster inclusive leadership. He stressed that unity among constituents would be key to achieving meaningful progress, urging residents to work collectively toward building a stronger and more responsive constituency.

The declaration event also attracted notable political stakeholders, including High Chief Hon. Seles Saboh, who offered words of encouragement to the aspirant. Saboh spoke about the changing dynamics of the political space, advising Janakumo to remain focused and resilient, while warning that the era of conventional politics was fading.

“This is not the time for complacency. The political landscape is evolving, and politics will not be business as usual,” he said.

Supporters at the event expressed optimism about Janakumo’s candidacy, describing it as a potential turning point for Constituency 3. Many cited the need for fresh leadership and renewed commitment to addressing local challenges as reasons for rallying behind the aspirant.

With the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) expected to roll out more guidelines ahead of party primaries, political activities across Bayelsa continue to intensify, setting the stage for what could be a highly competitive electoral cycle.
