Bayelsa LGA to sponsor 9 PhD, 30 M.sc students As Council Chairman Approves N1.5m for students Union

The Chairman of Ekeremor Local Government Area of Bayelsa state, Hon. Onniye Isaac has disclosed in a meeting with the students Union of Ekeremor yesterday that, the council Area is set to sponsor nine PhD and thirty M.sc students for scholarship Programme.
Hon Onniye while speaking to the students informed them that he’s a lover of education, and rolled out some of his educational scheme of sponsorship of nine PhD students, thirty MSc students and undergraduates all from Ekeremor LGA in Bayelsa state.
Tarakirivoice gathered that,Hon Onniye Isaac Ziminiyain PhD also Approved the sum of one million and five hundred thousand naira (₦1,000,500) for members of The National Union of Ekeremor Local Government students(NUES) ahead of their planned convention in Azagbene Community, in Ekeremor LGA of Bayelsa State.
The Chairman while addressing the student leaders, noted that, the earlier support he gave to them was money from his own pocket and not council fund, the students were all amazed to hear from the chairman that up till now Council hasn’t received letter of request for their program with estimate, stating that as a Chairman he can’t make approval for such an amount without seeing document to that effect, you can’t make a request in social media and expect approval from government without a bureaucratic process of government.
The students immediately went on their knells remorsefully and apologized to the Chairman and principal officers of the council over inflammatory statements made by the students as a result of the earlier support that was given to them by the Chairman which was from his pocket. The Student leaders further appreciated the council leadership for the forgiveness and the swift approval of the funds for their annual convention.
