Breaking: Young Female Journalists to Receive Funding, Mentorship and Monthly Pay in New Ghana Programme

The Media Foundation for West Africa (MFWA) has reopened applications for its 2026–2027 Investigative Journalism Mentorship Programme for Women, offering young female journalists in selected regions of Ghana an opportunity to strengthen their investigative reporting skills through a year-long capacity-building initiative.

The programme, which runs from July 2026 to June 2027, is designed for female journalism graduates, early-career journalists, and young media professionals based in the Eastern, Central, Ashanti, Bono East, Savannah, Northern, and Upper West Regions of Ghana.

Successful applicants will receive intensive training in investigative journalism, one-on-one mentorship from experienced female editors and governance specialists, funding and editorial support to produce five investigative stories, a monthly stipend throughout the programme, and a certificate of honour upon successful completion.

According to the organisers, the initiative aims to empower the next generation of female investigative journalists with the skills, resources, and professional guidance needed to produce impactful public-interest reporting.

mfwa.org with the subject line “Application for Female IJ Mentorship.” The deadline for applications is July 4, 2026.

The mentorship programme is funded by the European Union and DW Akademie, and implemented by the Media Foundation for West Africa (MFWA) as part of efforts to strengthen investigative journalism and promote accountability across the region.
