A social media post by the General Overseer of the Omega Power Ministries (OPM), Chibuzor Gift Chinyere, offering to rehabilitate veteran Nollywood actor popularly known as Hunk, has sparked widespread reactions online, with many Nigerians insisting the actor is healthy and was merely acting in a movie.
In a viral post, Chinyere said he was deeply concerned after seeing a video of the actor in what appeared to be a distressed condition and appealed to anyone who knew his whereabouts to contact his family.
According to the cleric, OPM has operated a free rehabilitation centre for the past 15 years, providing support at no cost to thousands of people, including former drug addicts, repentant armed robbers, kidnappers, cultists and commercial sex workers.
He added that the rehabilitation programme is funded through tithes and offerings from church members, stressing that many lives have been transformed through the initiative.
“Anyone know where he is? By the grace of God, we will accommodate and rehabilitate him and God will transform him,” Chinyere wrote, urging Nigerians to share the post until it reached the actor’s family.
However, shortly after the appeal went viral, many social media users disputed the assumption that the actor needed rehabilitation.Several commenters claimed the video was taken on a movie set in Asaba, while others said the veteran actor was in good health and often appeared in such roles while filming.
Some reactions read: “He’s fine, he was on a movie set in Asaba,” “Nothing dey do am, na acting,” and “You wan rehabilitate person wey dey act movie?”
Others identified the actor’s residence as Mabushi, maintaining that there was no evidence he was battling addiction or homelessness.
Despite the clarification from many users, some Nigerians praised Chinyere’s willingness to help anyone believed to be in distress, describing his intervention as another example of his humanitarian efforts.
The incident has once again highlighted how viral social media clips can easily be taken out of context, fueling public concern before the full facts are established.
