Drama In Police Custody: Ezekiel Collapses With Thick White Foam From His Mouth As Police Prepare His Release — “Don’t Tell The Public,” Officers Allegedly Plead Amid Poisoning Claims, Tompolo Camp Under Fresh Spotlight As Justice Ibrahim Steps In

By Passman Akpos

Justice Ibrahim has intervened in the controversial detention of Apostle Ezekiel Daniel Perela Osia, ordering that he be remanded at Kuje Correctional Centre pending the hearing of his bail application, while also directing that he have unrestricted access to his counsel and adequate medical attention.

The development has intensified questions surrounding the circumstances of Ezekiel’s prolonged detention and an alleged medical emergency that his legal team says occurred while he was in police custody.

According to an account attributed to Engr. Jude Gbaboyor, what was initially described by Ezekiel’s supporters as a failed abduction eventually resulted in his detention by the police. Independent reporting confirms that Ezekiel was arrested in Abuja on September 18, 2026, following a petition concerning alleged cyberstalking and defamatory publications. The circumstances surrounding his arrest and the allegations made against him remain subjects of dispute.

“Don’t Tell The Public” — Allegation Of Attempted Cover-Up After Ezekiel Faints

Gbaboyor alleged that on Friday, September 25, when Ezekiel’s release papers were reportedly ready to be signed at the Police Cybercrime Station, an alarming incident occurred

According to the account, tears suddenly began running down Ezekiel’s face. He was asked what was wrong and why he was crying. Shortly afterwards, thick white foam allegedly came from his mouth and he collapsed unconscious on the floor.

Panic reportedly spread through the Cybercrime Station.

The account states that police officers rushed Ezekiel to the Police Clinic in Garki, where medical workers attended to him.

Gbaboyor further alleged that after Ezekiel was stabilised, frightened officers asked those around him and members of his legal team to keep the incident quiet.

The claim that Ezekiel was poisoned has not been independently established, and no publicly available medical evidence cited in the reports reviewed by Tarakirivoice establishes poisoning as the cause of his collapse.

That distinction is important because an allegation of poisoning while a detainee is in police custody would constitute an extremely serious matter requiring independent medical and investigative verification.

Nearly Two Weeks In Custody

The controversy intensified because Ezekiel had already spent nearly two weeks in custody.

His lawyers had reportedly challenged the prolonged detention and worked to secure his release. Earlier reports also stated that bail conditions had been met, yet further delays followed.

After the alleged medical emergency, his lawyers reportedly insisted that he remain under medical observation rather than being immediately handed over from the hospital.

By Tuesday, September 29, the legal team returned to continue the release process.

According to the account, two sureties were presented with documentation, but the police subsequently sought verification and allegedly requested ₦70,000 for the process.

The lawyers reportedly paid the money.

The police later informed the legal team that one surety had been verified and that the second would be verified the following morning. The team was reportedly told to return to collect Ezekiel.

But, according to Gbaboyor, the position changed again, with the police informing the lawyers that Ezekiel would instead be taken to court.

Justice Ibrahim Questions Prolonged Detention

The legal team subsequently rushed to court and began preparing a formal bail application.

However, because of the court’s workload, the filing process was not completed before the matter was called before Justice Ibrahim.

The judge was reportedly informed that Ezekiel had been in police custody for nearly two weeks.

When the judge questioned the prosecution about the prolonged detention, the defence account says there was no immediate explanation.

Justice Ibrahim subsequently ordered that Ezekiel be remanded at Kuje Correctional Centre pending the determination of his bail application.

The judge also ordered that Ezekiel have unrestricted access to his counsel and adequate medical attention. Public reporting confirms those directions.

That intervention has now become a major point of discussion because it moved the matter from prolonged police custody into the direct supervision of the court.

What Are Tompolo And His Associates Allegedly Celebrating?

The controversy surrounding Ezekiel extends beyond the immediate cybercrime and defamation allegations.

Ezekiel has previously made serious accusations against Government Ekpemupolo, popularly known as Tompolo, and several associates concerning alleged abuses in the Niger Delta.

Those allegations have not been established as facts by a court, and the individuals named have legal rights to respond and defend themselves.

Nevertheless, Gbaboyor’s account asks a broader question: what happens when a person who makes serious allegations against powerful individuals subsequently finds himself detained by law-enforcement authorities?

That question deserves scrutiny—not because allegations automatically amount to proof, but because the treatment of a detainee must remain subject to law, due process and judicial oversight.

Allegations Of A “Private Prison” In Oporoza

Ezekiel and his supporters have alleged that people have been abducted, tortured and held in an alleged private detention facility in Oporoza, Gbaramatu Kingdom.

Among the names mentioned in the allegations are Ekomieyefa Uduboh, Government Ekpemupolo, Godfrey Tare Pondi, Ebipade Kari, Super Ebilade, Bodmas Kemepadei and others.

These accusations remain allegations and should be tested through evidence and due process rather than treated as established criminal findings.

Gbaboyor also alleges that Balamene Karowei and Charles Korubo remain detained in an alleged private facility in Oporoza.

Those claims require independent investigation and direct responses from the persons accused.

A Case That Could Put Serious Allegations Before The Court

The case now extends beyond accusations of cyberbullying and defamation.

It has become a wider test of how allegations involving powerful actors, law-enforcement agencies, detention and fundamental rights are handled.

If victims and survivors possess evidence supporting allegations of unlawful detention, kidnapping, torture or killings, the appropriate place for such evidence is before competent investigative authorities and courts.

Likewise, if the allegations against Ezekiel are considered false or defamatory, the prosecution must establish its case according to law.

Justice Ibrahim’s intervention therefore places the focus where it belongs: on evidence, due process, medical safety and judicial scrutiny.

Rather than allowing competing accusations to be settled through intimidation, public abuse or social-media warfare, the facts should be subjected to transparent investigation and tested before the courts.

For Ezekiel, the immediate issue is his liberty, health and right to a fair hearing.

For the wider Niger Delta allegations, the question is whether credible evidence exists—and whether the relevant authorities are prepared to investigate it without fear or favour.

The court has now taken custody of the matter.

The public will be watching what comes next.
