“Ekeremor Boils: ‘Enough Is Enough!’—Communities Rally Behind Ekpetun Against Political Giants”

..........As Barr. Torke Johnson Ekpetun Declares for Bayelsa Assembly Seat, Vows ‘Revolutionary Representation’ in Ekeremor

A new political contender has officially entered the race for the 2027 Bayelsa State House of Assembly elections, as Barrister Torke Johnson Ekpetun announced his intention to represent Ekeremor Constituency III, citing mounting pressure from grassroots groups and stakeholders.

In a statement released on Wednesday, the legal practitioner and Commonwealth Youth Ambassador said his decision followed “persistent calls” from community organizations, youth movements, and political stakeholders urging him to step forward and offer what they described as credible and people-centered leadership.

Ekpetun acknowledged the challenges ahead, including what he termed “political, electoral and financial manipulations,” but maintained that his ambition is driven by a commitment to deliver visionary and revolutionary representation.

“Having carefully considered these calls… I hereby formally accept to contest as the next Member, Bayelsa State House of Assembly, representing Ekeremor Constituency III,” he declared, emphasizing that his mission would be anchored on capacity, character, competence, service, and human rights.

His declaration appears to have the backing of several local advocacy and youth groups, including the Ekeremor Constituency III Urban Network, Iduwini Change Advocates, and the Ekeremor Communities Youth Empowerment Movement, all of whom have publicly endorsed his candidacy.

The groups, in separate appeals, described Ekpetun as a candidate capable of delivering development-focused and people-oriented representation, urging constituents to rally behind his ambition ahead of the 2027 polls.

Political observers say his entry into the race could reshape the dynamics of the constituency, particularly among youth voters, as early mobilization efforts begin to gather momentum.

As campaign activities gradually intensify across Bayelsa State, Ekpetun’s message signals a growing trend of grassroots-driven candidacies aimed at challenging established political structures in the lead-up to the elections.

He concluded his declaration with a message of unity and hope:

“Long live Ekeremor Constituency III. Long live Bayelsa State.”

The 2027 elections are expected to witness heightened competition across constituencies, with emerging candidates like Ekpetun positioning themselves as alternatives to traditional political actors.
