“I Follow Sheriff Anywhere!” – Fejiro Oliver’s Explosive Loyalty Declaration Sparks Outrage in Delta Politics

A prominent Urhobo voice, Fejiro Oliver, has stirred political conversations in Delta State after publicly reaffirming his relationship and renewed political alignment with Governor Sheriff Oborevwori.

In a strongly worded and deeply personal statement, Oliver described the governor as not just a political ally, but a “friend” and “very senior brother,” emphasizing a bond that goes beyond politics. “Where he goes, I go,” Oliver declared, underscoring his current alignment with the governor despite past disagreements.

Personal History Shapes Political Loyalty

Oliver recounted several personal experiences that cemented his loyalty to Oborevwori, including financial and emotional support during a medical procedure, as well as political and personal interventions dating back to Oborevwori’s tenure as Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly.

He revealed that the governor once stood by him during a family dispute in Imo State and played a role in shaping urban development policies in Asaba that directly impacted his business interests.

A Conditional Alliance

Despite the show of loyalty, Oliver made it clear that his support is not unconditional. He stressed that the collective interest of the Urhobo people must always come first.

“Urhobo interest MUST supersede personal interests,” he said, warning that he would openly criticize the governor if governance falls short. He added that he has done so in the past and would not hesitate to do it again “without sugarcoating.”

Allegations of Past Crackdown

In a dramatic twist, Oliver alleged that his relationship with the governor had once deteriorated to the point of his arrest, which he claimed nearly escalated into a life-threatening situation.

According to him, the move was ill-advised and ultimately backfired politically. While he acknowledged the incident as a major grievance, he suggested that it has not entirely closed the door on reconciliation.

Backing Key Political Figures

Looking ahead to the 2027 elections, Oliver disclosed his support for a select group of leaders from Delta Central, including Governor Oborevwori and former Deputy Senate President Ovie Omo-Agege. He hinted at a third candidate for the House of Representatives, whose identity he said would be revealed later.

However, he maintained that his support could shift if these figures fail to uphold principles aligned with Urhobo advancement.

Warning of Tough Political Battle Ahead

Oliver also projected a potentially fierce political contest in the next election cycle, particularly if Peter Obi emerges as a candidate under the African Democratic Congress (ADC).He called for unity among Urhobo leaders, urging them to present candidates capable of delivering economic growth and political strength for the region.

Closing his remarks, Oliver struck a balance between loyalty and accountability, reiterating his commitment to offering honest advice to the governor—even if it means confronting him directly.

His statement has since sparked debate across political circles in Delta State, with analysts viewing it as both a reconciliation move and a strategic positioning ahead of the high-stakes 2027 elections.
