“IJAW DAUGHTER ON THE WORLD STAGE! — Diri Calls on Bayelsa, Nigerians to Unite Behind Tamunosoye for Miss World Crown”

Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri, has called on Bayelsans, the Ijaw people and Nigerians at home and abroad to rally behind Nigeria’s representative, Tamunosoye Karibi-George, as the grand finale of the 2026 Miss World Pageant holds today, September 5, in Nha Trang, Vietnam.
Diri described the moment as more than a beauty pageant, urging Nigerians to see Tamunosoye’s participation as an opportunity to showcase the country’s excellence, culture, confidence and national pride on the global stage.
Tamunosoye, popularly known as Soye, emerged as Miss World Nigeria and is representing the country in the international competition, carrying with her the hopes of millions of Nigerians and the pride of Bayelsa State and the Ijaw Nation.
In a message rallying support for the Nigerian queen, Governor Diri said he had personally interacted with Tamunosoye and followed her journey through the competition, describing her as an exceptional young Nigerian who embodies “grace, intelligence, confidence and character.”
According to the governor, Soye’s conduct and communication throughout the competition have demonstrated the dignity, brilliance and warmth associated with Nigerians.
«“As the competition reaches its defining moment, I urge our people everywhere to intensify their support and vote massively for Tamunosoye,” Diri said.»
The governor maintained that bringing the Miss World crown to Nigeria would be a source of collective pride, stressing that the competition provides an opportunity for Nigerians to unite behind one of their own.
Diri also commended the support Tamunosoye has received from Nigerians across different platforms, while calling for an even stronger push as the competition enters its decisive stage.
“As a government committed to promoting tourism, youth development and excellence, we are immensely proud of Tamunosoye as she continues to grace the world stage with elegance, confidence and poise,” he said.
The governor added:

How Nigerians Can Vote for Soye
Supporters have also been urged to vote for Soye Karibi-George through the iZone app.
Step 1: Download the iZone app from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.
Step 2: Open the iZone app and locate Miss World 2026 in the voting section
Step 3: Select Miss World 2026, choose Round One, and proceed to Africa – Round One.
Step 4: Select Nigeria and vote for Soye Karibi-George (Soye).
With the grand finale now upon the contestants, supporters across Bayelsa, the Ijaw Nation and Nigeria are being urged to turn their enthusiasm into votes as Tamunosoye seeks to secure the coveted Miss World crown for Nigeria.
