The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) has celebrated the episcopal consecration of Pastor Patience Museveni Rwabwogo as Bishop, describing the landmark ceremony as a significant moment for African church leadership and the advancement of the gospel across the continent.
The historic consecration took place at Covenant Nations Church in Luzira, Kampala, where RCCG General Overseer, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, officiated the ceremony, while Pastor Mrs. Folu Adeboye administered the sacramental anointing.
The RCCG said the elevation represents both a personal milestone in Bishop Rwabwogo’s spiritual journey and part of a broader vision to raise and release apostolic and episcopal leaders for greater gospel impact across Africa.
In his commissioning address, Pastor Adeboye charged the newly consecrated bishop to embrace the enlarged responsibility that comes with her new office.
“Promotion comes from the Lord. I declare over you, Bishop Patience, that the Lord has prepared you for this hour,” Adeboye declared, praying that her episcopal ministry would be characterized by revival, transformation and the demonstration of God’s power.
He further urged her to focus not merely on maintaining existing structures but on multiplying churches, discipling leaders and advancing God’s kingdom.
Pastor Mrs. Folu Adeboye, during the anointing prayer, invoked blessings upon Bishop Rwabwogo, her family, ministry and Covenant Nations Church, praying for spiritual authority, prophetic grace, pastoral compassion and the fullness of the Holy Spirit for her new assignment.
The RCCG highlighted Bishop Rwabwogo’s two decades of ministry, noting that Covenant Nations Church began approximately 20 years ago as a small prayer gathering and has since developed into an international evangelical ministry with congregations across Uganda and beyond.
In her acceptance remarks, Bishop Rwabwogo received the new responsibility with humility and emphasized the accountability attached to spiritual leadership.
She said the elevation would provide an opportunity for greater impact through discipleship, church planting and community transformation.
According to her, the gospel must extend beyond the pulpit to influence education, healthcare, business, family structures and the conscience of nations.
The RCCG also used the occasion to reaffirm its position on women occupying significant leadership positions within the Christian faith, invoking the biblical prophecy in Joel that God would pour out His Spirit upon all flesh and that “your sons and your daughters shall prophesy.”
The church said the emergence of women in apostolic and episcopal leadership reflects what it described as the fulfillment of Scripture and pledged to continue supporting women leaders called to exercise spiritual authority and contribute to national transformation.
The ceremony attracted prominent religious and political figures, including President Yoweri Museveni and First Lady Janet Museveni, Bishop Dr. Moses Odongo and members of the NFBPC, evangelical leaders from across East Africa, and international apostolic figures, including Bishop LaDonna Osborn.
Worship at the event was led by Israeli ministers Emmanuel Roro and Helen Yilma.
The consecration coincided with the 20th anniversary celebration of Covenant Nations Church, which the RCCG described as a watershed moment for the ministry and a significant development in the African evangelical landscape.
The church expressed appreciation for President Museveni’s recognition of the spiritual significance of the occasion and his acknowledgement of the role of faith leaders in nation-building.
The RCCG said the event underscores what it described as an emerging season of apostolic ministry, with men and women being raised to establish churches, disciple leaders and extend Christian influence into new spheres of society.
It described Bishop Patience Museveni Rwabwogo as one of the leaders emerging within that movement and expressed confidence that her episcopal ministry would contribute to church multiplication, community transformation and the spread of the gospel across Africa and beyond.
The RCCG pledged to continue walking alongside Bishop Rwabwogo and other emerging African leaders as it pursues what it described as a vision for continental revival and gospel saturation.
