In a development seen by supporters as a boost to independent journalism and human rights advocacy in the Niger Delta, Passman Akpos, the Founder and Publisher of Tarakirivoice Newspaper Enterprise, has successfully completed a 12-month professional training program in Advocacy and Activism at the WIV Human Rights and Advocacy Academy.

The training, which ran from January 2025 to December 2025, was organized by the WIV Human Rights and Advocacy Academy, an institution dedicated to building professional human rights activists across Africa and beyond.

At the completion of the program, Akpos was awarded a Certificate of Completion recognizing his successful participation in the academy’s intensive curriculum focused on human rights advocacy, civic engagement, and activism.

According to the academy, the training is designed to equip participants with practical tools to defend fundamental freedoms, promote accountability, and amplify the voices of marginalized communities.

The certificate was endorsed by Blessing Okojie-Eze, Faculty Team Lead at the academy, and Funmi Omoboriowo, Adviser to the WIV Academy.

Akpos, who leads Tarakirivoice Newspaper Enterprise, is widely known for using the media platform to highlight social justice issues, governance concerns, and developments affecting communities in the Niger Delta.

Observers say the completion of the program further strengthens his role as a journalist committed to advocacy-driven reporting and human rights awareness.

Supporters of the Tarakirivoice publisher noted that the training aligns with his long-standing focus on investigative reporting, civic advocacy, and holding public institutions accountable.

The WIV Human Rights and Advocacy Academy described its mission as “building professional human rights activists” capable of promoting justice, transparency, and democratic values in their respective societies.

For many followers of Tarakirivoice, Akpos’ certification represents not just a personal milestone but also a reinforcement of the newspaper’s mission to combine journalism with human rights advocacy.
