“Political Earthquake in Bayelsa as Ekeremor Leaders Unite Behind Dickson, NDC”

By Passman Akpos

Traditional rulers, women leaders, youth groups and community stakeholders under the umbrella of the EKELGA 4 Henry Seriake Dickson (HSD) Association have declared their support for the re-election bid of Senator Henry Seriake Dickson and pledged to mobilize grassroots backing for all candidates of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) ahead of the forthcoming elections.

The endorsement was announced during a sensitization meeting held in Aleibiri, Ekeremor Local Government Area of Bayelsa State, bringing together representatives from the five wards in the council area.

According to the association, the gathering was convened to reaffirm confidence in Senator Dickson’s leadership and to strengthen grassroots mobilization for the NDC across communities in Bayelsa West.

Speaking on behalf of the traditional rulers and community leaders, Chief Peter Okpara commended Dickson’s contributions to infrastructure and education, particularly the establishment of the Aleibiri Polytechnic. He described the institution as a major milestone that has expanded access to tertiary education, skills acquisition and employment opportunities for youths in Aleibiri and surrounding communities.

The chiefs also praised the senator’s role in championing the Sagbama–Ekeremor Road project, describing it as one of the most significant infrastructure developments in the area’s history. They said the road has improved transportation, enhanced trade, expanded access to healthcare and education, and stimulated economic activities across previously isolated communities.

Women leaders at the meeting lauded Dickson for promoting women’s inclusion in governance and implementing empowerment initiatives. They pledged to embark on door-to-door campaigns across villages and wards to mobilize female voters in support of the NDC and its candidates, saying leadership should be assessed on the basis of measurable achievements.

Representing the youth, Prince Funkebi Macaulay commended the senator’s investment in education, youth development and infrastructure. He said Dickson’s leadership had inspired many young people to believe in the value of purposeful governance and assured participants that youths would intensify voter mobilization efforts, particularly among first-time voters.

Also speaking, Moses Arefa, on behalf of the Community to Community for Henry Seriake Dickson Association, reaffirmed the group’s commitment to strengthening the NDC’s grassroots political structure. He said members had been assigned responsibilities to engage families, friends and community members while promoting the party’s programmes and the track records of its candidates.

The meeting concluded with participants expressing unity and determination to sustain what they described as the development witnessed under Senator Dickson’s leadership. They urged eligible voters to participate actively in the electoral process and support leaders with proven records of public service, while expressing confidence that sustained grassroots mobilization would deliver victory for the NDC in the upcoming elections.
