“PRIMARY ELECTION NA SCAM!” — Isoko South Aspirant Blasts APC, Walks Out Over Alleged Rigging

By Passman Akpos

Fresh political tension has erupted in Delta State following the resignation of Ogomudia Tomobo Alex from the All Progressives Congress (APC), after he accused party leaders of imposing a preferred candidate for the Isoko South Constituency 2 House of Assembly primary election.

In a resignation letter dated May 9, 2026, addressed to the APC Chairman of Uzere Ward 04 in Isoko South Local Government Area, Ogomudia said he was forced to leave the party after what he described as a clear case of “lack of internal democracy and pure imposition.”

According to him, the Isoko South LGA APC Chairman, Mr. Victor Ekelegha, allegedly informed him during a meeting at the party secretariat in Oleh that Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Elder Sheriff Oborevwori, had already decided who would emerge as the candidate for the Isoko South Constituency 2 primary election.

Ogomudia claimed he was bluntly told not to “waste time and energy pursuing shadows,” as the decision had already been made from above.

Describing the development as unfair and undemocratic, he said he could no longer remain in a system where the wishes of party members and the electorate were being ignored.

“In line with the directive of the Governor as conveyed by the LGA Party Chairman, I have no other option than to take a bow,” he wrote.

He further declared his intention to continue his political ambition for the Delta State House of Assembly seat on what he described as a “more favourable and conducive platform,” insisting that the people should be allowed to decide their leader.

His resignation has sparked strong reactions among his supporters, with one of his close allies, Seth Osima, describing the move as “bold and courageous.”

Osima said Ogomudia’s exit from APC was necessary because a leader with vision, capacity, and genuine love for the people could not be silenced through intimidation and political manipulation.

“The voice of the people is stronger than political imposition,” Osima stated.

He added that Isoko South Constituency 2 would prove to those who believe power belongs to a few that democracy must remain in the hands of the people.

“Where my Principal moves, we move. We still stand solidly with him because leadership is about the people, not intimidation. The struggle continues. The people will speak. Victory is ahead,” he declared.

The development is expected to trigger fresh debates within Delta APC as concerns over internal democracy, candidate imposition, and political control continue to dominate conversations ahead of the 2027 elections.
