A shocking tragedy has thrown residents of Nkporogwu-Ukehe community into mourning after a young man identified as Onyebuchi Victor, popularly known as “Biggalo,” allegedly killed his own mother following a domestic argument.

According to reports from neighbors, the suspect had spent the previous day sharpening a machete, leading many to believe he was preparing for farm work. However, in the early hours of the following morning, the situation reportedly took a deadly turn when he allegedly attacked his mother inside their home.

Sources in the community said the victim’s remains were later discovered covered with a blue lace wrapper, while shocked residents gathered at the scene in disbelief.

It was gathered that a neighbor who came to buy ogili ukpa was the first to notice something was wrong and quickly raised the alarm. Youths from Nkporogwu, with support from Umulumgbe youths, immediately launched a search for the suspect after he reportedly fled the scene. He was later found hiding in the bush and brought back to the community.

During questioning by locals, the suspect allegedly claimed that he had asked his mother for food, but she told him there was none in the house. He reportedly said that was what triggered the violent attack.

The incident has sparked outrage and sadness across the community, with many residents questioning the growing moral decline among some youths and the desperation linked to quick money rituals and other hidden motives.

Many locals, however, expressed disbelief that hunger alone could have led to such a horrific act, insisting there may be deeper issues behind the crime.

“This is beyond ordinary. A grown man taking his own mother’s life over food? There must be more to this,” one resident lamented.
