Tears as Elder Abel Sam Ozubbu Begins Final Journey, Family Leads Emotional Farewell

The body of the father-in-law of the publisher of Tarakirivoice Newspaper Enterprise, Passman Akpos, late Elder Abel Sam Ozubbu, has departed a funeral facility in Agbarha-Otor in a solemn procession to his family compound along the Eku–Samagidi–Kokori Road in Samagidi for a traditional service of songs.
Tarakirivoice had earlier reported that families and community members across Delta State announced the funeral arrangements for the revered patriarch, who passed away at the age of 86.
According to a special invitation jointly released by the families of Emekume Ojiegu of Ebor Orogun in Ughelli North and Ophegbe Odibo of Awirhe, Agbarha-Otor, as well as the family of Eregbarudu of Samagidi-Kokori in Ethiope East, the burial rites for the late elder will span several days across different communities in the state.

Late Ozubbu, described by relatives as a devoted father, grandfather, and respected community figure, will be laid to rest in his hometown following a series of traditional and interment ceremonies. His passing has drawn tributes from family members and associates who highlighted his role in strengthening family ties and community values.
Funeral Arrangements
The burial programme commenced on February 27, 2026, with the movement of the body from the funeral facility in Agbarha-Otor at about 2:30 p.m. to his residence along the Eku–Samagidi–Kokori Road for a traditional service of songs attended by relatives, in-laws, and community members.
Interment is scheduled for February 28, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at the same compound, after which guests and well-wishers from within and outside Kokori community will be entertained.
Activities will conclude on March 1, 2026, with an in-laws greeting ceremony set for 1:00 p.m. at the family compound.
Speaking on behalf of the children, Evangelist Ozubbu C. Orotemu stated that the family is committed to giving their late father a befitting farewell in recognition of his impactful life and enduring legacy.
Family representatives also extended an open invitation to friends, associates, and community members to attend the ceremonies and celebrate the life and times of the departed elder.
