Tension in Local Government Councils in Edo Over Fear of Dissolution
Palpable fear of sack has gripped Chairmen and Councillors of Local Government Councils in Edo State ahead of a change of government and swearing in of APC-led State Government November 12, this year.
As a result, Chairmen and Councillors have deplored the strategy of force and harassment of Local Governments HOLGAS and TLGS to use monies set aside for the payment of salaries for the payment of their furniture allowances and other personal expenses.
Sources reveal that ” it is as a result of fear that Local Government Councils might be dissolved by the incoming Government of Distinguished Senator Monday Okpebholo who won the last Gubernatorial election held on 21st September, 2024 on the platform of the APC.”
The HOLGAS and TLGS have been advised not to fall into the ploy of the Politicians in the helm of affairs of the Local Governments for all the HOLGAs and TLGs will be made to account for all monies arising from misappropriation and misapplication of funds.
