Wigwe University Immortalises Founder Herbert Wigwe With Legacy Sculpture In Rivers

In a solemn yet symbolic ceremony, Wigwe University has unveiled a sculpture in honour of its late founder, Herbert Wigwe, reinforcing its commitment to preserving his vision and enduring legacy.

The institution, situated in Isiokpo, described the monument as more than a tribute—calling it a beacon of inspiration for students and a constant reminder of the values upon which the university was built.

The unveiling ceremony was led by the Chairperson of the Governing Council, Amina Augie, who emphasized the importance of honouring visionary leadership. She was joined by the Vice-Chancellor, Marwan Al-Akaidi, alongside faculty members, staff, and students who gathered to witness the historic moment.

University officials noted that the sculpture captures the essence of Wigwe’s dream—an institution dedicated to excellence, innovation, and global relevance. They added that it will serve as a daily source of motivation for both present and future generations within the academic community.

Herbert Wigwe, widely respected for his contributions to banking and education, is remembered not only for founding the university but also for his transformative vision aimed at redefining higher education in Nigeria.
