Gov. Dauda Lawal of Zamfara, on Thursday flagged off construction of 11.6 km rural roads in Bungudu and Kaura Namoda Local Government Areas.
Flagging off the project at Tashar Rawayya area, the governor reiterated his administration’s effort to enhance transportation and easy access to communities in the state.
He said the 11.65-kilometer road project would connect Rawayya, Furfuri, and Kurya Madaro communities in Bungudu and Kaura Namoda LGAs.
The governor disclosed that the project has been awarded to Bauhaus Global Investment Nigeria Limited at the cost of N6.6 billion with completion period of 12 months.
Lawal noted that the rural and urban infrastructure deficit had significantly contributed to lack of development in the state.
“Absence of rural infrastructure has severely affected farming and local business activities and hinders the social well-being of rural dwellers.
“This project is a testament to our administration’s commitment to improving our transportation system by connecting our towns and villages with access roads.
“This is part of our infrastructural development agenda, which aims to create a conducive environment for businesses to thrive and address our security challenges,”he said.
He said that the state government considered urban and rural infrastructure as an important development strategy.
“We desire to create a robust foundation for sustainable development and economic growth across all sectors,” Lawal said.
