Fresh tension has gripped communities in Ahoada West Local Government Area after a strange object was reportedly discovered outside the residence of community advocate Winnie Miller, sparking fear, speculation and heated reactions on social media.
Miller raised the alarm in an emotional post on Thursday morning, claiming the item was found directly in front of her home in the village of Eugeno Chita. The activist, who recently made headlines for her advocacy about the poor condition of Community Secondary School Odiokwu, suggested that the discovery could be linked to ongoing tensions surrounding her public campaign.
“This was found in front of my house this morning,” Miller wrote, while appealing to local political figures including Victor Obuzor and Eugene Chita Epelle, insisting she had committed no offense against them.
“The chairman of Ahoada West and the House of Representatives member, I and my mum have done you nothing,” she wrote. “Whoever is behind this, the God that I serve will fight for me and my mother.”
The incident comes amid an already heated controversy in the local government area following Miller’s recent social media campaign highlighting the deteriorating state of Community Secondary School Odiokwu. In several emotional posts, the advocate described overcrowded classrooms, broken roofs, lack of furniture and a shortage of teachers in the school, which serves multiple communities across the Ubie area.
Her call for urgent intervention was directed at the council leadership, urging Chairman Epelle to take action to improve the learning environment for students. She emphasized that her appeal was not politically motivated but focused solely on securing better education for children in the community.
However, the advocacy campaign quickly escalated into a wider controversy after allegations circulated online claiming that Miller was intimidated and assaulted by individuals allegedly linked to local authorities following her posts. Those claims have not been independently verified.
The latest development—the discovery of the mysterious object—has further intensified public debate. Social media platforms have been flooded with reactions ranging from expressions of support and prayers to warnings about possible intimidation or spiritual threats.
