Bayelsa Under Tight Security as Police Roll Out Drones, Marine Units Ahead of Christmas, New Year

The Bayelsa State Police Command has announced a massive and strategic deployment of personnel and operational assets across the state ahead of the Christmas and New Year celebrations, assuring residents of adequate security on land and waterways throughout the festive period.
In a press release issued in Yenagoa, the Command said the deployment is aimed at ensuring a peaceful, crime-free, and hitch-free Yuletide celebration for residents and visitors.
According to the statement, all Divisional Police Officers (DPOs), tactical units, Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) teams, Marine Police, intelligence units, and special drone teams have been placed on heightened operational readiness. These units have been directed to intensify patrols, surveillance, and rapid response operations across flashpoints, highways, communities, and waterways.
The Police Command also disclosed that it is working closely with other security agencies, traditional rulers, youth leaders, and key stakeholders to strengthen security architecture before, during, and after the festive season.
While wishing residents a Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year, the Command urged members of the public to celebrate responsibly, remain vigilant, and cooperate with security agencies by promptly reporting suspicious persons, movements, or activities.
Residents were reminded that the ban on the use of fireworks remains in force, as part of measures to prevent panic, injuries, and security breaches during the celebrations.
