Community Announces Funeral Rites for Respected Elder Abel Sam Ozubbu at 86

Families and community members across Delta State have announced the funeral arrangements for Abel Sam Ozubbu, a revered patriarch who passed away at the age of 86.
According to a special invitation jointly released by the families of Emekume Ojiegu of Ebor Orogun in Ughelli North LGA and Ophegbe Odibo of Awirhe, Agbarha-Otor, as well as the family of Eregbarudu of Samagidi-Kokori in Ethiope East LGA, the late elder’s burial ceremonies will take place across multiple days in Delta State.
Late Ozubbu, described by relatives as a devoted father, grandfather, and community figure, will be laid to rest in his hometown following a series of traditional and interment rites.
Funeral Arrangements
The burial programme begins on February 27, 2026, when the body will depart a funeral facility in Agbarha-Otor at 2:30 p.m. for his compound located along the Eku–Samagidi–Kokori Road in Samagidi for a traditional service of songs.
On February 28, 2026, interment will take place at 10:00 a.m. at the same compound, followed immediately by entertainment for guests and well-wishers from within and outside Kokori community.
Activities will conclude on March 1, 2026, with an in-laws greeting ceremony scheduled for 1:00 p.m. at the family compound.
Speaking on behalf of the children, Evangelist Ozubbu C. Orotemu stated that the family is preparing to give their late father a befitting farewell in recognition of his impactful life and legacy within the community.
Family representatives also extended an open invitation to friends, associates, and community members to attend the ceremonies and celebrate the life of the departed elder.
