Gunmen release kidnapped Ondo bishop

Rev. Canon Olowolagba, an Anglican Church cleric, along with his wife and two children, have been released by gunmen
They were recently abducted by gunmen on the Ise/Iboropa-Akoko Road in Akoko North-East Local Government Area of Ondo State.
The Commander of the Ondo State Amotekun Corps, Akogun Adetunji Adeleye, confirmed that Olowolagba and his family members had been released.
He said that the victims had been reunited with their family.
He, however, did not disclose the details surrounding their release.
The family was reportedly returning from a wedding in Ikaramu-Akoko when the abduction occurred on Thursday last week.
The news of their release has brought relief to the local community, which had been on edge since the incident.
Calls for improved security along major roads in the state have intensified in the wake of the abduction.
Abduction of Bishop Olowolagba had raised anxiety among members of his church who reportedly commenced a drive to mobibilise the initial N15m requested by the kidnappers.
However, as the effort continued, reports said that the kidnappers raised the ransom value on the bishop and his family members to N50m, heightening family and church members’ anxieties.
