More Tax, Less Relief: Rev360 Launch Raises Alarm Among Struggling Nigerians

By Passman Akpos

Abuja, Nigeria — The Nigeria Revenue Service (NRS) has announced plans to roll out Rev360, a next-generation revenue administration platform set to go live on April 30, 2026, in what officials describe as a transformative shift toward a fully digital and intelligent tax system.

In a press release issued on Thursday, the Service said the new platform represents a critical milestone in its ongoing drive to modernize Nigeria’s tax administration, improve efficiency, and strengthen transparency across the system.

According to the NRS, Rev360 builds on earlier digital reforms, including the widely adopted TaxPro Max platform, which introduced electronic tax filing and reduced reliance on physical processes. The new system is designed to go further by integrating automation, real-time reporting, and embedded tax processes directly into taxpayers’ operational systems.

“This marks the transition to Tax Administration 3.0,” the statement noted, describing the new phase as one defined by seamless interactions, faster processing, and enhanced compliance monitoring.

The Service explained that taxpayers would benefit from improved user experience, expanded service options, and quicker turnaround times in their dealings with tax authorities. It added that the platform is engineered to support better decision-making and boost overall efficiency in revenue collection.

Rev360 is also aligned with the broader technological advancement strategy of the agency under the leadership of its Executive Chairman, Zacch Adedeji, whose administration has prioritized innovation and institutional reform within Nigeria’s tax system.

Following a successful pilot phase, the rollout will begin with Medium and Emerging Taxpayers as part of a structured, phased implementation plan. The NRS said this approach is intended to ensure system stability while providing adequate support to users during the transition period.

To facilitate a smooth adoption process, the agency disclosed that it has commenced extensive stakeholder engagement, training programmes, and public awareness campaigns ahead of the official launch.

Reaffirming its commitment to service delivery, the NRS emphasized that Rev360 represents not just a technological upgrade but a strategic move to enhance taxpayer confidence, align with global best practices, and drive national economic development.

The Service maintained that it would continue to refine its systems to ensure a more transparent, efficient, and taxpayer-focused revenue framework for Nigeria.
