Ekpebide Rolls Out Royal Reception As Amnesty Administrator Otuaro Storms Bomadi Amid Political Alignments

By Passman Akpos

Bomadi, Delta State — A powerful convergence of political influence, traditional leadership, and regional stakeholders took center stage in Bomadi as Ambassador (Gen.) Preye Ekpebide hosted the Administrator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme, Dr. Dennis B. Otuaro, in what observers described as a grand and strategic gathering.

The high-profile reception coincided with a major event organized by the Ijaw National Congress (INC) in honour of Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, at the ultra-modern Deaconess Tobore Oborevwori Multipurpose Event Centre within the Bomadi Local Government Secretariat.

The event, which drew a large turnout of prominent Ijaw leaders, youths, and stakeholders, also served as a significant political moment as the Ijaw nation openly endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Oborevwori for re-election in 2027—signaling a growing alignment of regional leadership with national power blocs.

Ekpebide, who serves as the Third-Phase National Chairman of the Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP), hosted Dr. Otuaro at his residence with notable warmth and prestige, reinforcing his standing as a key figure in the region’s peace and development architecture.

In his remarks, Dr. Otuaro expressed deep appreciation for the hospitality extended to him, commending Ekpebide’s unwavering dedication to the Amnesty Programme, particularly in advancing the welfare, empowerment, and reintegration of beneficiaries across the Niger Delta.

He also praised the Ijaw National Congress for organizing what he described as a “befitting and unifying reception,” noting that such engagements remain critical in strengthening peace, fostering collaboration, and driving sustainable development in the region.

Beyond the ceremonial display, the meeting held after the reception focused on pressing issues affecting ex-agitators and beneficiaries of the Amnesty Programme. Discussions centered on sustained stipends, access to quality education and scholarships, vocational training, job creation, and long-term reintegration strategies.

Dr. Otuaro reaffirmed his commitment to prioritizing the needs of beneficiaries while working closely with stakeholders to consolidate the gains of the Programme and ensure lasting peace in the Niger Delta.

In his response, Ambassador Ekpebide thanked the PAP Administrator for honouring his invitation and reiterated his commitment to supporting the vision and objectives of the Programme under Otuaro’s leadership. He emphasized the importance of unity, consistent policies, and stakeholder collaboration in sustaining peace and driving meaningful development across the region.

Ekpebide also lauded the leadership of the Ijaw National Congress for creating a platform that not only celebrated Governor Oborevwori but also fostered dialogue, unity, and renewed hope for the Niger Delta.

The event ultimately underscored a shared resolve among leaders and stakeholders to place beneficiaries at the heart of policy implementation while strengthening the synergy needed to build a more secure, prosperous, and empowered Ijaw nation.
