BREAKING: Former Ogbonbiri Youth President Dennis Ofolo Killed Amid Chieftaincy Crisis, Community Thrown Into Mourning

By Passman Akpos

Ogbonbiri community in Southern Ijaw Local Government Area of Bayelsa State has been thrown into deep mourning following the reported murder of former Youth President, Mr. Dennis Ofolo, amid the lingering chieftaincy crisis rocking the area.

Sources within the community disclosed that Dennis Ofolo, a prominent and respected son of Ogbonbiri, was allegedly murdered in cold blood as tensions surrounding the traditional leadership dispute escalated into violence.

His tragic death has sparked grief, outrage, and renewed fears of instability within the riverine community, as residents lament the loss of a man many described as a peaceful, committed, and selfless youth leader.

During his time as Youth President, Dennis was said to have played a significant role in promoting unity and advocating for the welfare of young people in Ogbonbiri. His sudden killing is now being viewed as a devastating setback for the community and its younger generation.

Community stakeholders have expressed serious concern that the prolonged chieftaincy conflict is gradually pushing Ogbonbiri toward deeper unrest, with many calling for urgent intervention from security agencies, the Bayelsa State Government, and traditional authorities to prevent further bloodshed.

Residents are demanding a full investigation into the circumstances surrounding his death and are urging authorities to ensure those responsible are brought to justice.

There are also strong appeals for calm, especially among the youth, as fears of reprisals continue to grow following the shocking incident.

Many residents described the killing as heartbreaking, warning that continued violence over leadership disputes could destroy the peace and future of the community.

This latest tragedy comes shortly after Tarakirivoice earlier reported violent youth clashes in Ogbonbiri that claimed the life of another young man, raising serious concerns over worsening insecurity in the area.

In that earlier incident, youths were seen in a disturbing video engaging in violent confrontations, breaking bottles, and causing panic across the community as tensions spiraled out of control.

With two tragic deaths now linked to the unrest, residents say Ogbonbiri is in urgent need of peace, dialogue, and decisive action before the situation degenerates further.

As of the time of filing this report, security authorities have yet to issue an official statement regarding the murder of Dennis Ofolo.

The people of Ogbonbiri now mourn yet another painful loss, hoping for justice, healing, and the restoration of lasting peace.

May the soul of Dennis Ofolo rest in peace.
