Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, on Thursday met with United States President Donald Trump at the 74th Annual National Prayer Breakfast held on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C., drawing international attention to Nigeria’s presence at the high-profile faith and leadership gathering.
During his address at the event, President Trump publicly acknowledged Senator Tinubu, describing her as a “very respected woman,” and invited her to stand as he recognised her presence. His remarks were met with applause from the audience, which included political leaders, diplomats, and faith representatives from around the world.
Introducing the Nigerian First Lady, Trump highlighted her dual role as a national leader and a religious figure, noting that she also serves as a Christian pastor at what he described as the largest church in Nigeria.
“We’re honoured to be joined today by the First Lady of Nigeria, who also happens to serve as a Christian pastor at the largest church in Nigeria. A very respected woman. First Lady, please, where are you? Thank you very much,” Trump said.
