NDYFGG President Mourns Elder Ekerefe Omoungu, Sends Strong Condolence Message to Ekerefe Family

By Passman Akpos

The National President of the Niger Delta Youth for Good Governance (NDYFGG), Lucky O.O. Ukueku, has extended heartfelt condolences to the Ekerefe Family following the passing of their patriarch, Elder Ekerefe Custom Omoungu.

Elder Omoungu, described as a respected father, brother, and community figure, was laid to rest on May 9, 2026, in Aleibiri Community, Ekeremor, Bayelsa State

In a personally signed condolence statement issued in Abuja on May 13, 2026, Ukueku described the Ekerefe family as one of the most peaceful and respected families in the Niger Delta region.

According to him, his close relationship with Ebilade Promise Ekerefe, the immediate past National Spokesman of the Ijaw Youth Council (IYC), gave him insight into the values and discipline instilled by the late Elder Omoungu.

“One of their sons, the immediate past IYC National Spokesman, happens to be my friend. Through him, I came to understand that their late father gave his children proper upbringing and instilled discipline in them,” Ukueku stated.

He praised Ebilade for his dedication to the Ijaw Nation, describing him as hardworking, humble, and committed to service—qualities he said were clear reflections of the moral upbringing provided by his late father.

Ukueku acknowledged that the passing of a father creates a painful vacuum, especially for children who shared a close bond with him.

“At a time like this, Comr. Ebilade will feel the absence of his father deeply. I urge him and the entire Ekerefe Family to stay strong and take solace in the belief that their brother and father rests with our Creator,” he said.

The NDYFGG President also expressed gratitude to friends, associates, and well-wishers who stood by the family during the burial rites, noting that such support strengthens grieving families during difficult moments.

While stressing that death remains one of life’s hardest realities, he reminded the family that divine purpose remains unquestionable.“No one can question the will of God, for He has a reason for everything,” he added.

On behalf of his family and the people of the Niger Delta, Ukueku offered prayers for divine protection, long life, and good health for every member of the Ekerefe Family, while praying for the peaceful repose of Elder Omoungu’s soul.

The condolence message has continued to draw emotional reactions across Bayelsa, especially among youth leaders and Ijaw stakeholders who knew the late elder and his contributions to family and community values.
