OPM Donates Dedicated Bus for South African Returnees as Support Programme Expands in Port Harcourt

The General Overseer of Omega Power Ministry (OPM), Chibuzor Gift Chinyere, has announced the donation of a dedicated bus to support Nigerian returnees from South Africa currently residing in OPM Free Estates in Port Harcourt.
According to the cleric, the vehicle was purchased entirely through tithes and offerings contributed by members of the church and will serve the transportation needs of the returnee families as they continue rebuilding their lives in Nigeria.
In a statement released on Thursday, Chinyere said the bus would primarily be used to convey children of the returnees to and from OPM Free Schools, transport residents to church services, and assist with other essential movement requirements.
“Happening now, 18th June 2026. I used tithes and offerings from OPM Church to purchase this free bus for the South African returnees currently staying in the OPM Free Estates,” he stated.
He added that all school-age children among the returnees have already been enrolled in OPM Free Schools, where they are receiving free education as part of the ministry’s ongoing intervention programme.
“Our goal is to help these families settle properly and give their children an opportunity for a better future,” Chinyere said, emphasizing that the initiative was fully funded through church tithes and offerings.
The latest donation comes amid continued support for the South African returnees, many of whom arrived in Nigeria after enduring years of hardship, displacement, and economic challenges abroad.
Earlier this week, a Federal Government delegation reportedly visited the OPM Free Estates and OPM Free Hospital in Port Harcourt to assess the welfare of the returnees and gather information on their living conditions and health status.
Since their arrival, OPM has provided accommodation, medical care, feeding support, household supplies, and educational opportunities for the affected families. The ministry recently increased feeding arrangements from one meal daily to three meals a day, citing the need to cater adequately for children within the group.
The acquisition of a dedicated bus is expected to further ease transportation challenges for the returnees and ensure uninterrupted access to education and other essential services.
The intervention has continued to attract attention nationwide, with many Nigerians commending the humanitarian efforts aimed at helping vulnerable citizens reintegrate into society after returning from difficult circumstances overseas.
