The Ebonyi State Police Command has taken a suspect, Chigozie Ovuta, into custody after discovering human skulls and firearms in his possession.
Ovuta, a native of the Okoffia community in Ezza South Local Government Area, was caught with two human skulls and three locally fabricated firearms.
The state’s Police Public Relations Officer, SP Joshua Ukandu, disclosed that the suspect admitted the skulls were meant for ritual purposes.
“During questioning, Chigozie confessed that the skulls were given to him for the preparation of a spiritual mixture. Efforts are ongoing to track down other individuals connected to the case,” Ukandu said.
In a separate development, police operatives uncovered a syndicate involved in repainting stolen tricycles to conceal their origins.
The operation led to the arrest of four suspects: Nweke Chukwudi, Nwankwo Obinna, John Abba, and Uche Abba. Officers recovered three stolen tricycles from the group, who admitted to altering the vehicles for their accomplices.
The command confirmed that all suspects will be arraigned once investigations are finalized.
Authorities have urged residents to stay alert and report any suspicious activities to help strengthen security across the state.
