“Shocking Video Exposes Anarchy in Ojobo — Where Is the Delta Government?”

Tension is once again rising in Ojobo Community, Burutu Local Government Area of Delta State, after a chaotic confrontation captured in a viral video showed residents on land hurling objects at occupants of two speedboats on the river.

The footage, which has been widely circulated on social media, depicts a disturbing scene: young men along the riverbank gathering sticks, bottles, and other objects to attack individuals in the boats, while those on water appeared to maneuver defensively in what observers described as a dangerous and disorderly clash.

Eyewitnesses said the situation created panic in the area, with many questioning the motive behind the confrontation and the identities of those involved.

“This kind of thing keeps happening in Ojobo. People are confused—who exactly are they fighting?” one resident asked. “Are these not the same people from the same community?”

The incident has reignited concerns about deep-rooted tensions within the community, especially coming on the heels of a recent deadly crisis that forced authorities to take drastic action.

As earlier reported by Tarakirivoice, the Chairman of Burutu Local Government Area, Hon. Chief Julius Takeme, dissolved all leadership structures in Ojobo following a violent clash that resulted in the death of a resident. The sweeping decision affected the Amananawei leadership, the PIA Board, and other factions involved in a prolonged power struggle.

The council has since taken over the administration of the community, with plans to install a caretaker committee ahead of fresh elections scheduled for May 29, 2026.

Despite these measures, the latest boat-versus-land confrontation suggests that underlying divisions remain unresolved.

Social commentators reacting to the viral video criticized the recklessness displayed in the clash. Some pointed out the apparent disadvantage of those on water, warning that such actions could easily escalate into tragedy.

“You’re in a boat confronting people on land—what happens if your engine fails?” one commenter remarked. “It’s a risky and senseless move.”

Others described the situation as a reflection of deeper issues, including leadership vacuum, youth restiveness, and breakdown of internal conflict resolution mechanisms.

Security agencies have yet to release an official statement on the latest incident, but residents are calling for urgent intervention to prevent further escalation.

With tensions still simmering, many are now questioning whether the council’s dissolution of leadership will be enough to restore lasting peace—or if Ojobo is heading toward another cycle of unrest.

For now, one thing is clear: the crisis in Ojobo is far from over, and the need for answers—and accountability—has never been more urgent.
