Tinubu in Kebbi: Marks State Progress and Joins Millions at Africa’s Iconic Fishing Festival

President Bola Tinubu will on Saturday embark on a one-day official visit to Kebbi State, where he is scheduled to inaugurate key projects executed by Governor Nasir Idris.
According to a State House press release issued on Friday by the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, the visit underscores the Federal Government’s support for developmental strides at the state level.
During the trip, President Tinubu will also serve as Special Guest of Honour at the 61st edition of the 2026 Argungu International Fishing and Cultural Festival, one of Africa’s most celebrated cultural events.
The globally renowned festival, which attracts tourists, dignitaries, and cultural enthusiasts from across the world, is staged along the historic Matan Fada riverside. The site has been recognised by UNESCO as an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity, further cementing its global significance.
The Argungu festival, famous for its grand fishing competition and vibrant display of Hausa culture, is expected to showcase Nigeria’s rich cultural heritage while boosting tourism and local economic activity in Kebbi State.
President Tinubu’s presence at the event is seen as a major endorsement of cultural preservation efforts and a demonstration of the administration’s commitment to promoting Nigeria’s diverse traditions on the global stage.
