BREAKING: “Jos Is Bleeding!” — Outrage Erupts as Attack Near Military Zone Raises Alarming Questions for Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Service Chiefs

By Passman Akpos

Residents of Jos, the capital of Plateau State, were thrown into panic on Sunday, March 29, 2026, following reports of an ongoing armed attack in the Angwan Rukuba area.

The incident, which surfaced through viral videos and eyewitness accounts, was brought to wider attention by social media personality VeryDarkMan, who claimed that unidentified gunmen arrived on motorcycles and opened fire on unsuspecting residents. As of the time of reporting, the full extent of casualties and damage remains unclear.

In his reaction, VeryDarkMan expressed outrage over the security situation, questioning how such an attack could occur in close proximity to military presence. He pointed out that a major army barracks is located in nearby Rukuba and called on Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Nigeria’s service chiefs to address the growing insecurity. “Jos is bleeding,” he lamented, urging authorities to act decisively.

However, local sources and residents were quick to clarify a key geographical distinction that has shaped public debate. According to multiple accounts, Angwan Rukuba—where the attack reportedly occurred—is a separate settlement from Rukuba Barracks. While both are within the Jos metropolis, they are not the same location, and some residents estimate the distance between them to be between 15 and 45 minutes depending on traffic and response speed.

This clarification has not eased tensions, as many Nigerians continue to question how heavily armed attackers were able to move through areas reportedly dotted with security checkpoints without interception. The incident has reignited broader concerns about the effectiveness of security operations in the region and allegations of systemic lapses.

Unverified reports circulating online have attributed the attack to armed groups, including suspected Boko Haram factions, though authorities have yet to issue an official statement confirming the perpetrators.

Community members described the development as tragic and deeply unsettling, with some expressing fears of escalating violence. Calls for prayers and solidarity have also emerged, as residents mourn those feared lost in the attack.

Security agencies are yet to release a comprehensive briefing on the situation. Meanwhile, residents remain on edge, hoping for swift intervention and clarity as the situation unfolds.
